
Staff Economist
The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), the research arm of Citizens for Tax Justice, is seeking a staff economist.
ITEP is a non-profit, non-partisan research organization founded in 1981 to conduct analyses of federal and state tax systems. ITEP works closely with Citizens for Tax Justice (CTJ), a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to fair and adequate taxation. CTJ advocates:
CTJ, often using ITEP analyses, has been a key player in many federal and state tax reform fights.
Much of ITEP's work is based on the ITEP Tax Model. The ITEP microsimulation model consists of a representative sample of the population of the United States consisting of close to one million data records coupled to databases with information on federal, state and local tax systems. The model's tax calculators can compute tax revenue for income, consumption and property taxes and tax burden by various demographic criteria, including by income group.
Responsibilities for the position offered include preparing and presenting analyses and reports, and updating and enhancing ITEP modeling capabilities.
The ideal candidate is energetic, proficient in mathematics and computer programming, writes well and has an interest in tax policy.
