Senior Policy Analyst

The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), the research arm of Citizens for Tax Justice (CTJ), is seeking a senior policy analyst.

ITEP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization founded in 1981 to conduct analyses of federal and state tax systems. ITEP works closely with CTJ, a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to fair and adequate taxation. CTJ advocates:

Fair taxes for middle- and low-income families
Requiring the wealthy to pay their fair share
Closing corporate tax loopholes
Adequately funding important government services
Taxation that minimizes distortion of economic markets

CTJ, often using ITEP analyses, has been a key player in many federal and state tax reform fights.

Candidates for the position should have:

Experience working on fiscal policy issues, especially those affecting state and local governments;
Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency with PC-based statistical software, spreadsheets, and databases.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to lay audiences both in writing and through public speaking.
Self-motivation, ability to work independently, and ability to prioritize tasks.
Willingness to work as a part of a team.

The ideal candidate is an energetic and skilled researcher with training or experience in Economics or Public Policy and an interest in tax policy. However, applicants with a variety of backgrounds will be considered.

The Senior Policy Analyst reports to ITEP's Director. This position is full-time and is based in Washington, DC.
