Since our founding in 1979, we have been the nation's leading tax research and advocacy organization- working for fair tax systems at the federal, state and local levels. Through our studies, organizing, testimony and lobbying, we bring the call for an equitable tax system to our nation's leaders. CTJ has been placed at the top of the "Best of..." list of public interest groups by the Washington Monthly.

Citizens for Tax Justice provides policy-makers, citizen groups and the public with timely, cogent and reliable analyses of important tax issues. We work to encourage public discussion of the value of government, how it is paid for, what people get for their taxes and how they are affected when tax laws change.
